I got vast amounts of plant biomass today from kin-by-partnerships who have a huge stunning yard near Roanoke Park. Wow. It was a great day to start with, since I got up later than usual and got to play in the garden all day, but then I received:
  • Podophyllum pleianthum (a baby: just one leaf)

  • Crocosmia (two clumps. color unknown! woohoo!)

  • Cardoon (one crown of four they had, not enough roots so I cut its leaves wayway back)

  • unknown bush-of-sunflowers perennial (two edge pieces of a MASSIVE WOODY CROWN OF DOOM)

  • Acanthus (big. heavy. gorgeous.)

  • Lady's mantle (two big pots of, with flowers coming)

  • Cape-fuchsia (some yellow-flowered and some red, current pot arrangement unknown)

I've planted only the crocosmia, because it goes perfectly in the place I was weeding before I got it, and the sunflower-bush. The cardoon is in a trash can full of water, looking like a jagged-stemmed paintbrush and, I hope, taking on enough water through its skimpy brush of rootlets. Everybody else got plenty of mulch in their pots and a good soaking, and I'll work with them tomorrow. My hip hurts kind of a lot and my back is reminding me that I ought to have cramps, but I'm very pleased with my day. Happy summer!
