If purple roses were the color of the twilight-gray clouds smudged over the white ones off to the south, instead of that weird lavender, I would love them. That's the color I wanted them to be.

Another wonderful morning at work. Everything outside the Seattle area is broken. At least we found Sean this time. He may even get here soon.

Please remind me to post about The Changeling, which was a hell of a play. I haven't had the chance to write about it at work because of all this trouble, and I was busy all weekend too.

Hair is newly colored; the purple didn't take, but the blue streaks and green look pretty good. No pics yet, but maybe if it holds sunny I'll get someone to snap a few during lunch.

fancy beadchain class, 3/15/03

Barb Switzer (who is way cool and has this wonderful hair) taught me to make this bracelet on Saturday at Fusion Beads.

Barb is a good teacher, patient and personable. She's living in northern California now, so people here and there should keep an eye out for her classes. This technique is the main thing she teaches, since she invented it. She's got one on embellished right-angle weave that looked like a lot of fun, too.

This design is a little bit in the "throw money at it" school of making things pretty -- expensive crystals, lots of silver separators, fancy clasp -- but I can mitigate that by buying supplies in bulk. And it turns out you need much less silver wire than the prep sheet claimed, so I can make plenty more links with their overpriced 22-gauge. The clasp is actually worth the price; see the safety catch? Next time I make one, though, I'm definitely shopping around for beads and getting separators from Marilee Layman.

yay, new mexico!

Did you know the New Mexico legislature had passed a memorial opposing the USA Patriot Act? I didn't, but now both I and my representatives have heard about it. I wonder what they'll have to say.
