Troglodytes troglodytes
Oct. 5th, 2003 06:41 pmA fine specimen of the winter wren just smacked into our window. I sat outside holding it and talking to it until its breathing slowed from a freaked-out pant and it looked more alert than wonky, then transferred it to the lawn. It seemed to be unhurt in leg and wing, as far as gentle poking could tell. When I tried to do the pet-bird "step up" to it a few minutes after that, it decided flying over to the quince bush was a better idea. I'm glad it's well.
