gwynyth made me very happy this morning by posting
two links regarding a dictionary of morphemes.
hattifattener responded to my bouncy email with
a list of collective terms of animals. I didn't even know what an avocet
was, and I'm really amused that the most common term for a group of three seems to be "a leash". (Fairly appropriate for some triads, I'm sure.)

Date: 2003-01-19 12:31 am (UTC)I've been compulsively studying Esperanto over the past year. One thing that makes Esperanto easy, but at the same time a little more boring, is that words like collectives are all formed the same way.
Lion = leono
Pride of lions = leonaro
Goose = ansero
Gaggle of geese = anseraro
Hippopotamus = hipopotamo
Bloat of hippopotami = hipopotamaro
And so on...
