I've been feeling like I don't have enough creative projects to do since I finished the swirly thing. Not that I've been in much of a mood to do them, but having them in the back of my mind is... well, it's no fun not having them there. They're not therapeutic really because there's not a problem that they help with (except insofar as their unpresence is a problem). Thingy.

So I'm making a list.

add clasp for silver Byzantine chain bracelet
webstuff with Elise
ladybug quilt from ages ago
dye over the star fabric again
trilobite cookies for the comic store folks (sorta creative!)
lion cross-stitch from ages ago
purple and blue quilt idea
green quilt idea
shirt for Wim -- find & customize pattern, make and tailor muslin, get and dye fabric, produce shirt
cause black silk skirt to become strange and nifty
curtain to put above kitchen entrance
dye over pink and blue curtains

Okay, there is stuff. I feel better.

I think I feel stalled because I have a time-sensitive project that's finished but not meeting the time limit. (The petroglyph baby square has gone missing.) It's messing me up to have it lost, but it really is lost, I've no idea where to, and I don't at all want to re-make it. Grr.

Meep! re: petroglyph baby square going wandering. Eeek!

I may want to borrow your wire cutters soon. I'm getting itchy fingers, but my wire cutters have very definitively died, and I won't be able to afford new good ones for a while. :\

The other day, I was pondering: Is there anybody that makes undyed cotton backpacks that I could dye? Why are all backpacks made of nylon, anyway? What advantage does nylon give over cotton in backpack construction?

Now, I will go Google.

Crafty goodness!

I need to cut patterns for the initial run of wrapping cloths, and then find my needles and thread. I should do that tonight, but probably won't.

Oh, those velvet things you were talking about? They sound nice. I have a ton of needles and I even know where some thread is, if you wish to borrow stuff.

Oh, I know I have stuff, it's just a question of which box of craft things stuff is in.

Nylon is better for backpacks than cotton because it is difficult to mend so you'll be back to buy another one sooner. Same reason there don't seem to be backpacks with metal fasteners instead of cheap plastic. Planned obsolescence.

You may borrow wire cutters, of course.

Cotton isn't waterproof or even water-resistent. That right there is, for me, a really really good reason not to use it.

Yay wire cutters! :) The backpack comment made me giggle. ;)

I wonder if Scotch Guard or something similar could be used to seal it, at least somewhat, afterwards. Because I desperately want a backpack that I can dye/paint/draw on. Hm.

the baby flew away, bad!

I guess all I have is the quilt-for-me now and my wrist has been a little tricky so I haven't been pushing on it at all. plus I'm in no hurry. I wanted to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear pillow out of this silk short slip thing but I did that already, and a commitment to upkeep on the couch cover I mended for my friend peter. and a bag that needs mending! so yeah enough work for me right now too (and mine is more plodding, not so much painted lovliness)

ps I just got this new live journal 'update' screen when I previewed this message, nice but startling.
