inglorious mud
Aug. 5th, 2002 03:15 pmI wouldn't mind the construction going on outside work nearly as much if they didn't have this delusion that mud is preferable to dust. They have a tanker truck pootling along spraying water over everything, and I inevitably get stuck behind the damned thing. Dirt happens, but I have never had such muddied legs as I had today. My sandals are so evenly spattered that it looks intentional. When I bounced my bike before carrying it upstairs, thinking to knock some of the gunk off the tires, half a cup of mud splotted like wet cement onto the pavement below the pedals. More fell off when I put it down upstairs. I had to wash mud off the back of my neck, for fuck's sake, and not a little of it.
Someday, this will be over. But not any time soon.
