I dreamed there was some kind of family gathering at my house, which was a large, airy place with a comforting kitchen that reminded me of a root cellar. I was putting fruit salad together, but I realized after a bit that I'd used a bowl that already held the garnet beads I'm using for
lithera's necklace. I went up a long, shallow staircase, past other beading supplies hung on the wall as if in a store, and found a little trough filled with different stone beads. In my pocket I found a wand shaped like an elongated safety knife (I'm not sure whether it was one or not), and I concentrated on using my magic to attract garnets from the mix to my wand, which I swept through the bin, and drop them into my hand. When I figured out a tune to hum, it started working, and practice helped a lot. Actually, it got to the point where I had to be stern with the garnets to get them to let go.
I walked back down the staircase, trying my new ability on all the stuff on the walls as I passed. It still worked. When I got to the bottom, my family wouldn't believe me, so I pulled a bag of stuff off the wall. No garnets were in it, only a strand of D-shaped citrines, but I didn't dwell on that too much. My family was convinced, and I pulled the garnet beads out of the fruit salad with my wand.
My family was being bitchy about it, though, mostly my aunt (who annoys me in real life too), so I went out with my wand. I found my neighbor, who lived in an interesting, creaky old house, and tried to show him what I could do, but things kept intervening: another guy showed up stealthily and we had to investigate him, some other stuff. My neighbor kept growing bigger and bigger. I don't remember much more.
Too much Mahou Tsukai Tai? I dunno. My wand didn't have a duck on it, at least.
