Apr. 18th, 2002 11:09 amWim and I stayed up late last night. I hadn't watched Futurama in ages. I'm still not about to get cable, but that is one funny show.
In other news, it is satisfying to cut the sections of a grapefruit so that they can easily be eaten with a spoon. Simple, precise actions, giving me the results I want.
I talked to Wim about job stuff, too. The list of things I want is getting a little longer as I consider. Working with live things, especially plants. Making beautiful and tangible things (following someone else's design is okay, but graphic design is only kind of okay -- making touchable things with my hands is important). Fiddling with words, in an edity, proofready fashion but not so much a writey fashion. I can't think of anything that satisfies all of them and is likely to exist. Something in a landscaping direction might work to cover the first two, breeding or propagating plant varieties might get a bit of three as well. And my anticipated happiness level does seem to go up as more of the list is projected as satisfied, so I think I am on the right track.
I don't dislike my job now. It pays reasonably well, there's a fair amount of variety (oh, yeah, variety is important too!), and the location is great. It's not what I feel called to do, though, and the company isn't growing as quickly as they said it would so I am still doing some things I don't enjoy. The question is, what do I feel called to do. See above.
